"If I get chilly, I'll let you know," Bucky tells her, and he does mean that. If he does, he'll tell her. But he doubts that will happen. Compared to winter in Russia, this beach is practically balmy.
As she speaks, she gives Bucky a lot of insight into her. He doesn't go looking for it, but he's trained in these things. He notices what people do and do not say. Dani has been through a lot, possibly even something traumatic, and she can't sleep.
"Oh, same as you, I expect," he says casually, because it's answer enough without either of them giving out too many details. He looks at the lifeguard shack a few yards away and gestures for Dani to follow him, walking around until they're shielded from breeze. He sinks down into the sand and leans back against the building, stretching his legs out in front of him.
"Can't sleep," he tells her with a knowing look, one that she may be able to translate without much thought. Nightmares.
