Bucky knows that the last thing that Sylvie would want is pity, and while that isn’t what he feels, he does ache for her. He knows a little of what it’s like to go from battle to battle for years and years, to be all alone, but she went through so much worse, for so much longer.

“I think if the TVA could get to this place, they would have already razed it to the ground. Everyone here is a walking anomaly,” he says quietly, because it’s not hard to guess what she’s thinking.

“We don’t have to think about it now, either.” He lifts his hand to her face, fingers sinking into her soft hair as he brushes it back. Bucky will think about it very much later, he’s sure, but for now he’s content. “It’s just very new to me, is all. It never occurred to me as a possibility.”
